Elemental Changer

Right then, I think I'll share some of the most interesting inventions of the ES next. But who are the ES and who are the Elementals, I hear you cry?! Well, you'll have to wait until next week for that little titbit of information as, for now, I have some weapons and other inventions to share (and not just because I'm still looking for the best description of them - there's a lot of different books and papers to look through, you know!), all of which are more or less unrelated except for being from the same two authors. First up is the Elemental Changer:
The Elemental Changer is a masterpiece of technology that I would count as one of the pinnacles of human creation. The reason for this is that it enables the user to change the Element of an item at a molecular level. This saves in production costs for, where we normally would have had to make 10 of each item (one for each Element and therefore occasion), we now only have to make one and then change the Element. It is done by imbuing the item with a certain amount of Elemental Energy (the amount needed depends on how long the item is required to change Element for).

It was created in the latter years of the Age of Recovery (about 1434 AR) by a team of Technicians under the gaze of one of the greatest Technicians of that time, Idrai Opik. It has since been made smaller (it used to be the size of a brick and is now a much more convenient microchip size) and more powerful over the years by many other Technicians and Master Technicians.

Due to its huge, and varied, usability it is now being used by every Soldier in the ES and it, along with many other inventions of the time, has turned the tide against the Elementals considerably.

From ‘A List of the Greatest Inventions of the Age of Isolation-the Age of Humankind’ by Jia Hunr, ES author and history enthusiast. Written in 1802 AH.
