Time for a different author now, I think as well as something a bit more... weapon-y. Behold, the EagleEye:
This weapon actually came into play quite late into the Great
War, at the year 4800 in fact. It came as a retaliation to the sudden
exponential birth of Air Elementals and, in particular, the sudden growth in numbers
of griffins. It has a 60X optical zoom that enables the user to get a precise
mark on the target, be it the wings of a griffin or the eyes of a fairy. A
later version came with a laser marker as well, but this was generally removed
by ES Soldiers due to its tendency to alert the enemy. It fires concentrated
bursts of Berserker Energy which has been known to down a full sized griffin in
a glancing shot. The gun is shaped in the way of an eagle’s with the grip
forming the bird’s foot and the barrel showing the head, hence the name EagleEye
(however, some experts claim that the gun was shaped in this way and named
after an eagle due to its use in shooting the ‘eagle-like’ head of the
griffins). There are only three variants of this iconic weapon: the usual rifle
sized one, a smaller pistol like one and the final one being slightly bigger
with a 100x optical zoom. The two variants are named the HawkEye and FalconEye
respectively and I talk about them later in this book. The EagleEye, and its
variants, while still only being able to use one type of Elemental Energy, are
still in circulation today, which is testament to the weapons design and
usefulness in the field of battle.Iconic users and battles include:
Sarah ‘Sharpshot’ Ling – Battle of the Hill – 4812 GW
Lyrah Gueman – Clash of the Clouds – 4900 GW
Hyruk Yim – Raid of the Shadows – 5000 GW
John Quinn – Battle of Kim’s Grave – 1234 AI
Irea Ironfist – Hunt of Kyrak – 1320 AI
